“Waldgenossenschaft”, interactive website, 2018

 

Four different computer generated voices can be activated by four digital buttons in the shape of three pine cones and a pineapple. All of them

reproduce looped audio files of the German word ‘Wald’ (forest). Additionally, the voices’ play-time rates can be changed by slide controls on the left. This way, the user creates an individual sound collage. In the arts, and especially in literature, the forest as an allegory for different emotional states is very popular, but also highly worn-out. ‘Waldgenossenschaft’ relates to the inflationary use of the topic while recycling it in its own way.
